Kid-Friendly Flooring: Tips + Tricks

Kid-Friendly Flooring: Tips + Tricks

March 22, 2017 – When considering flooring for a child’s play space, you need to choose flooring that will stand up to heavy use and abuse — and look good doing it. Here are some tips to consider when making these important decisions:

Wall-to-wall carpet isn’t ideal. For cleanliness and allergy reasons, wall-to-wall carpeting may not be the best option for your tot’s space. If you already have carpeting in your home, get a good, deep clean and vacuum often.

Consider more durable options. Products made from renewable materials, such as wood or cork, will stand the test of time and are safe options for crawlers, snackers, and squirmy little buggers. Plus, race cars go super fast across wood planks.

Reach for non-toxic, natural cleaning products. You’ll have a healthier home, a safer environment, and better air quality. This all means, you breathe easier knowing your child is safe.

Relax. Providing a safe home means having to make all kinds of choices and concessions. Do the best you can and love your kiddos. They grow up too fast.

Here’s an easy recipe we dug up to pass along. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Homemade Floor Cleaner
2 Tablespoons white vinegar
2 Tablespoons baking soda
1/2 Tablespoon liquid dish soap
1 gallon hot water

Mix well in a mixing bottle, sink, or bowl and apply to flooring with a soft cloth. Dry immediately.
